St Margaret's

St Margaret’s

The historic buildings of St Margaret’s in the residential area of St Leonard’s, Exeter were previously used as a school through-out the 20th and into the 21st century before it’s closure and subsequent acquisition by our Client.

We were commissioned as Architects for the Technical and Construction phases to redevelop the Grade II and Grade II* listed buildings into new energy efficient homes for the area. We were also commissioned to obtain Planning and Listed Building Consent for the new Phase 3 of the project. Construction will commence on the new phase towards the end of 2022.

The redevelopment aims to sensitively restore and preserve features which celebrate the history of the buildings including the Georgian high ceilings with delicate coving, elegant staircases and marble fireplaces, as well as the Edwardian stained-glass window and ornate ironwork banisters.

These historic buildings have achieved the efficiency of new-build homes. St Margaret’s Residences recently achieved a UK First for achieving an Energy Performance Certification (EPC) ‘A’ on a Grade II listed building.
