Deborah Southwould CMgr MCMI

Practice Manager | Financial Director

Deborah joined us as Practice Manager in 2000 and became Financial Director in 2006. A Chartered Manager and member of the Chartered Management Institute she has many years management experience and is responsible for financial management, business planning, polices, procedures and HR.

Richard White BA(Hons) BArch ARB RIBA PGCert

Architect | Director

Richard joined us in 2000 as an Architect and has been a Director since 2004. He has a great number of years experience both in the UK and in South Africa. Richard works within all sectors of the industry and is currently active within Passivhaus design and industrial sectors.

Nigel Rockley BA DipArch DipAP ARB

Architect

Qualifying as an Architect in 1994 Nigel worked for a number of Architectural Practices in the Midlands and Home Counties before setting up his own business. He has recently relocated to Devon and joined our Team in 2023. Nigel has extensive experience in Residential, Education, and Commercial sectors as well as Listed Buildings. He manages projects in all sectors through inception to completion.

 

John Griffin M.Arch BA(Hons)

Architectural Designer

John joined us early in 2025, after practicing as a sole trader in Devon, Cornwall & Hampshire. He is also an associate lecturer at the University of Plymouth School of Architecture and teaches part time across the BA course. John is currently completing his Part 3 in Professional Practice and Management in Architecture. Since joining Mitchell’s he has worked on a variety of jobs, often focusing on feasibility schemes and affordable housing projects at both planning and construction stages.

Lee Kowalski HNC with Distinction in Construction

Senior Architectural Technician

Lee joined the practice in 2016 and has progressed to be a senior member of the technical team. He manages his team through- out the technical phases on a multiple of commercial and residential schemes including projects in conservation areas and Grade 2* listed buildings

Matt Lewis

Architect

Matt worked for various architect practices in the Midlands before setting up his own business. He recently joined our team in 2025. Matt has a wealth of experience in design, construction and management that spans across all sectors including Residential, Educational, and Commercial as well as Listed and historic buildings. He manages projects at all stages through to completion. As an architect Matt is driven by a passion for creating spaces that inspire and endure with a focus on blending aesthetics, functionality, sustainability and environmental responsibility

Scott Redfern BSc (Hons) ACIAT

Architectural Engineer

Scott joined our Practice in 2023 as his Year in Industry Placement as part of the Architectural Engineering degree at The University of Plymouth and he quickly became a valuable member of our Team. Qualifying with a first class degree in 2025 Scott works on a variety of projects including large housing retrofit schemes and technical design of new developments as well as assisting the Architects at planning stage. Scott also assists the BIM Co-ordinator with project implementation.

Jonathan Hannam-Deeming BA(Hons)

Architectural Assistant

Jonathan joined our team in 2022 after gaining experience at an international multi-disciplinary practice in Hampshire, where he worked primarily in the education sector. He contributes to design solutions, technical detailing and project coordination. A 2020 graduate of Plymouth University, Jonathan is currently advancing his expertise through a Level 7 Architectural Apprenticeship at Oxford Brookes University.

Neil White

Junior Architectural Technician

Following a spell of work experience with us while at college Neil joined us in 2019 as a Junior Architectural Technician. He is working with the technical team on various projects, predominantly producing plans and details in Revit. He is currently undertaking an apprenticeship in Construction and the Built Environment.

Carly Anderson

Junior Architectural Technician

Carly has been with us since 2016 and as a Junior Architectural Technician, she works on a variety of projects, predominantly modelling in Revit and preparing construction packs. Carly is also involved in QA procedures and managing our social media accounts and is currently undertaking an Apprenticeship in Construction and the Built Environment.
