A development of twenty houses with five open market sale, and five of shared ownership.
We worked closely with the sales team to design the open market housing, maximising views across a valley of fields with the sea beyond and providing a high level of specification to the interiors.
The layout uses the topography of the site by carving the units into the slope thus minimising cut on the site while limiting the unit heights. The split level units have been carefully designed to appear as two storeys from each side to reflect the cottages within Widegates and so not dominate either the village nor within the scheme itself.
The design is in keeping with local distinctiveness, with the use of slate, render and timber cladding. Bay windows have been introduced as a contemporary feature, in dark slate colours to reflect the prominent features within the village vernacular.
